Scholarship Awards Program
The Scholarship Awards Program will be held on Thursday, May 18, at 6:00 p.m. in the Schweinfurth Theater. You will receive a separate letter if your senior will be recognized at the Awards Program.
Graduation Practice
Graduation Practice will be at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, May 19, in the Schweinfurth Theater. Attendance at practice is mandatory. Make arrangements in advance with employers as employment is not an excuse to miss practice. If you do not attend practice you will not participate in the Commencement Program.
Caps and Gowns
Cap, gown, and tassel will be issued at graduation practice. Students who have a school debt will not receive their cap and gown until debts are cleared. Graduates must have a cap and gown to participate in the ceremony. School sanctioned caps and gowns must be worn. Caps and gowns were ordered by the school for all graduates. A $40 graduation fee was added to each senior’s Skyward account at the beginning of the school year to cover the cost of caps and gowns. Caps and gowns from previous years will not be allowed. You are not allowed to decorate the top or underside of the cap or any part of the gown.
Student Debts
Seniors who have an outstanding debt to the school will not receive their cap and gown and will not be allowed to participate in the graduation ceremony. You may call the school or go online to check debts. Go to mvths.org and click on the Skyward Family Student Access tab. Seniors are required to pay their debts by May 10 online or to Mrs. Williams in the Main Office.
Commencement Tickets
Each graduate will receive seven tickets at graduation practice. Please stress to your graduate the importance of keeping track of the tickets once they have received them. Lost tickets cannot be replaced. There is limited seating and tickets will be required for admittance. No additional tickets will be distributed. Every spectator must have a ticket. Children must have a ticket unless they are a “lap child” that remains in the lap of an adult for the entire ceremony.
Commencement
The Commencement Program will be on Saturday, May 20, at 5:00 p.m. in Changnon Gymnasium. Graduates should arrive no later than 4:00 p.m. and assemble in the theater. If you have any questions about your student’s graduation eligibility status, please contact the Student Services Office 246-1737. Spectators who arrive after the ceremony has started will not be permitted to enter the gym.
Graduation is a special occasion, it is very important to encourage your senior to dress appropriately for the ceremony. We have often observed that dress and behavior go hand-in-hand. Examples of appropriate dress would be to wear a dress shirt, tie, dress pants, dress, or other such clothing/apparel. Shoes are required.
Senior Portraits
Iconik Studios will photograph all graduates as they receive their diplomas and a portrait will be taken as they exit the stage. Parents should receive ordering information in their email.
Graduation Videos
Action Media will video the graduation ceremony and produce a professional video. Copies of the video will be available to purchase from Action Media on a USB flash drive. Click here to see and download the order form. (pdf) Orders may be dropped off in the Main Office until the last day of attendance for seniors. Make checks payable to Action Media. Orders will also be taken in the lobby of the gym the day of graduation.
College Bound Seniors
You will need a final transcript and health records sent to the college you plan to attend after graduation. If you have not already signed a form to have your transcript sent to your college, please see your counselor. A copy of your health records may be picked up in the nurse’s office.
Semester Exams
Senior semester exams will be May 11 for periods 1, 3, 5, 7, and May 12 for periods 0, 2, 4, 6, 8. Students who turned in a semester exam exemption form first semester or whose parents completed the online form during registration do not need to submit a new form.
