The Class of 2024 has Graduated.
A packed house in Changnon Gym as families, friends and MVTHS faculty members were there to witness the transition from student to graduate. It started with farewell performances by this year's band and choir (each with a significant number of seniors).
The ceremony was highlighted by farewell speeches from the MVTHS National Honor Society President Brynlee Thomason and Peyton Julius, Senior Class President and Student Body President.
The graduating class, more than 270 strong, took their walks across the stage, cheering each other on, along with the crowd, as they shook the School Board President, Mr. John Ashby's hand and received their diplomas. Superintendent Melanie Andrews then made that all important pronouncement:
"Members of the class of 2024, I certify that you have met the graduation requirements set forth by Mt. Vernon Township High School 201 and the State of Illinois. Congratulations."
Congratulations and good luck. We're proud of each of you and look forward to who you will become. You will be missed, and you will always be Rams.
