2024 Open House Announced! September 12th 5:30PM - 7:00PM

MVTHS is very excited to welcome students back on Tuesday. We will follow the 1:57 dismissal schedule on Tuesday and the regular 3:09 dismissal for the remainder of the week. Students who drive to school and parents who drop off and pick up their child are asked to allow a little extra time for increased traffic the first several days. Let's have a great school year!

This week is the final days of ticket sales. You may purchase tickets in the Athletic Office via Emily Timmons or Seth English, District Office via Taylor Evans, or at Banterra Bank in Mt. Vernon. Tickets are $5.00 each or 5 tickets for $20.00. Tickets will also be sold Friday night during the first home football game against Waterloo. Winner will be announced during half-time. All proceeds go to the Mt. Vernon Athletic Department. Come out and support your Mt. Vernon Rams! 🖤🐏🧡

Attention Honors English I students, Honors English Packets will be handed out during Freshman Opening Day on August 6th. These packets contain assignments that MUST be completed for the first day of school on August 13th. Packets will also be available for pickup in the Attendance Office beginning the afternoon of August 6th and up through the afternoon of August 12th. Should you have any questions or issues with packet pickup, please contact Jeremy Mays at jmays@mvths.org.

The Mount Vernon Police Department and the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office will be conducting their annual active shooter training at MVTHS on Monday, July 29 and Wednesday, July 31 from Noon-4:00 pm.

The Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce has a grant opportunity for 1st Year Teachers! Scan the QR Code to apply. Deadline is July 31st.

Heads up! (Literally) Class photos are August 14th. THAT IS TOMORROW! Parents/Guardians will get a notification from Iconik when the photos are ready.

Quick heads up/reminder - Backpacks are allowed this school year. This is from the updated new student handbook: "New- Due to school safety concerns students may carry backpacks or handbags throughout the day. Backpacks must not set off the metal detectors themselves. Backpacks with charging capabilities, zip up three ring binders, briefcases, or any style of bag that administration deems as unnecessary or difficult to quickly search will not be allowed. All sports related items such as athletic bags for school sports will be searched at the metal detectors closest to the locker rooms.

MVTHS offices will be closed Wednesday, June 19 in observance of Juneteenth. There will be no summer meal service Wednesday. Summer meal service at MVTHS ends this Friday, June 21. Please continue to see our friends at D80 for meal pickups the rest of the summer.

Monday and Tuesday are full attendance days for students. The dismissal bell will ring at 3:09 - students are expected to remain at school the entire day. Good luck on your semester exams!
